Developed by the Helensson team, the HEADCASTER is a unique display system designed to provide drummers with a
smart alternative to the music stand.
The helensson HEADCASTER displays music, lyrics, and video information directly to your durmhead. The HEADCASTER hugs your tom's rim just beneath the resonate head.
In addition to eliminating the need for floor space that is
normally required for a music stand, the HEADCASTER
provides an ergonomic advantage as well. No longer will
you have to turn right or left to view music while trying to
use a microphone that is facing forward. With the
HEADCASTER you can face your audience while
comfortably viewing your music on the drum.
The HEADCASTER is a smart device so there are several control options and there are literally thousands of apps available as with any android device.

FAQ
How do I power the Headcaster?
The Headcaster has an internal rechargeable battery and an AC adapter is included.
How long will the Headcaster run on batteries?
This totally depends on how the device is used, much like a phone. Typically, with the light output set to medium, and displaying lyrics or music, the headcaster can run 4 to 5 hrs. The run time is indefinite with the AC supply connected.
How do I control the Headcaster... how do I "turn pages"?
Initially the Headcaster is controlled via a handheld remote which is included. Typically, after a music app is started then you would use an alternate way to "flip pages". This would normally be Bluetooth foot pedals such as those made by AirTurn. They also have a system (the AirTurn TAP) which can be controlled by a drumstick. Another really good way to control the Headcaster is to use a wireless track pad. Also...a unique "Stick controller" is now in development.
Can I use the Headcaster on my bass drum to show logo's or video for the audience to see?
The headcaster is primarily designed to be a tool for the drummer for performance and teaching, and not as a decorative lighting device.
How about vibration?... will the images distort when I play the drum?
The slight movement of the drum head will not affect the image projected onto it. This small amount of movement is the same effect you would see if you tapped any rear projection screen, a slight movement but no loss in focus or readability.
Striking the drum will not cause the music to be illegible.
Can I use the Headcaster outside in daylight or direct sunlight?
No. Although stage lights are not a problem, direct sunlight is too intense and will wash out the image being projected.
My heads are black. Will they work with The Headcaster?
No. A translucent white head, smooth or coated must be used for the batter head. A clear head, or no head must be used on the bottom.
Is it only for Music? What else can I display with the Headcaster?
Notes, apps such as a metronome, tuners ...etc. Also it being a Android device allows you to run apps such as YouTube, Netflix, Instagram, and 100s more.
Will it work with iOS? I have an iPad with a music app.
The Headcaster runs Android. iOS screens can be "mirrored" with available apps. It is not recommended to do this in a live situation because of the wifi requirements and the various untested combinations of available apps. It is best to use files previously downloaded to the Headcaster internal memory or on its external SD card.
How do I get my files loaded into the Headcaster?
The Headcaster has a micro SD card slot and a USB port. Another option is to use the DropBox App to receive files via Wi-Fi.
I use PowerPoint and PDF, and Word for my music... can the Headcaster display these?
Yes, there are apps included that can display many different formats. Also PowerPoint and Office type apps are available for download via the play store.
I just convert my lyrics, music, and notes to simple.jpg files. Can I load and display jpg, bmp, and gif files?
Yes — by using one of the photo viewers already on the unit.
What size drum will the Headcaster fit?
The Headcaster was designed for tom sizes of 12", 13",and 14" but other diameters can be accommodated with modification.
Without custom modifications the Headcaster will adjust to accommodate 11" to 14" drum rims.
